Easter Sunday Celebrations

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

What a day of Easter celebrations! We took part in the ritual of lighting our candles with a lovely Easter Mass by Fr Patrick. The Lord has Risen Renewing Love Hope and Peace for us all!

Tina our chairwoman from our Parish Council Committee paid tribute to Fran our Choir Director who is leaving, by giving her flowers and a gift from the Parish. Carmel presented Fran with a certificate of appreciation. Fr Patrick went on to say a few words.

Fran has been an outstanding choir director for this parish for over thirty years and sometimes working singlehandedly to provide music for Sundays and other liturgical seasons. She has recently offered to step aside from her role in this important ministry. On behalf of the parish, I would like to thank Fran for her marvelous works and exceptional service in the liturgical music in the parish through the years.

Fran will be happy to guide any other person who will be prepared to assume the responsibility of directing liturgical music in the parish. That person is going to be Maria. Thank you and God bless.

The children of the Parish had fun and enjoyed their Easter egg trail hunt in the garden, followed by hot cross buns and Easter cakes, tea and coffee. Thank you to everyone who provided the goodies and Church decorations and flowers. We loved them all!

Fr Patrick thanked everyone in the Parish for helping with various duties throughout the year and blessed everyone with Easter wishes. God bless and thank you Fr Patrick for looking after us!

We had a visit from Pauline Wassell who kindly gave little bags of tablet in celebration of her daughter Emma who has gained many caps playing for the ladies Scotland Rugby team. She was the first baby baptised at Our Lady and St John the Baptist. How cool is that!

Our baby doll fundraiser was drawn today and the winner was, drum roll........ Lottie ( Fiona her Godson's wee Daughter ) Amazing thanks to Pat for providing and ladies for orgainising.

Lastly we presented Joy Grant with a Appreciation Certificate for all the work she has done in the past for SVP and the community, thank you to Joy and the existing members from the bottom of our hearts for all the things you do. If anyone would like to join the SVP please contact the Parish and we will put you in touch. Love, Peace, Joy and many Blessings for the coming year!
